Snow Removal OUTRAGE

Print

By 10:00AM the plows cleared some streets but left mounds of impassable snow across the intersection We have been receiving several inquiries regarding snow clearing in Elmont.  If your street is not plowed, you may add your voice to this Request for Service (RFS) from the Town of Hempstead.
Call 516 481-7110.  In addition, the TOH suggests you “wait until snowplows have cleared their streets before shoveling driveways and sidewalks. Always shovel snow to the right of your driveway apron (as you face the street) so plows do not push snow back in front of your driveway. Fire departments depend on neighbors to clear snow away from hydrants so they can access them quickly in the event of a fire. If you live on a corner, please also clear a path from the sidewalk to the street at the corner for pedestrians.”

With no cars obstructing access the plows left nearly 6 feet of snow between the curb and the street. The car with reverse lights on could not get over the mound in previous image.Added 6:12 AM - Tuesday, OUTRAGED residents continue to contact us - "Kate Murray, where is the service for the community" is a common cry today.  We have to get to work to pay the taxes!

This is Sparta! Elmont Spartans On the Move!

Print

When You think about the Fall, there is one thing that comes to the minds of many young people throughout Elmont, that is football season. For many of our aspiring gridiron greats, practices have started in earnest and the hot sun blazing during the day is toughening them up for the contests that are right around the corner.

Elmont.org wanted to profile 4 of Elmont Memorial High School’s football greats and look beneath the surface of these young men. Our four spotlights are on Qusarn Caldwell, Kyle Johnson, Michael Braun and Brandon Brown. This week, we look at Caldwell and Johnson.

Each of these young men have impressed the greater Elmont community on and off the athletic field. Now, we get to meet them and see what makes them tick as individuals, and what motivates them on the field.

Over, Gino’s Pizzeria famous Buffalo Chicken and Sicilian Slices on a hot Friday night, this is what they had to say about their upcoming season and school.

open letter-02

Today, we are talking to people about sustainable economic development, because we think it's important to show support for key issues that affect our community - like places in the Elmont for young professionals to live, shop and be entertained; like keeping families closer together and rebuilding the economic and social pillars of the community.
