"Today, we learned that Veolia's management team says that they won't make any fare or service promises regarding Long Island Bus. That's wrong. Service cuts, far hikes, ending transfers and route eliminations are unacceptable to me and for the 100,000 people that depend on Long Island Bus to get to work, school and medical appointments. Veolia has to be clear on these issues. Anything less is unacceptable. The news that Veolia's management is silent on these issues is not a good way to start. Bus service is a vital part of Nassau County's economic engine. To be silent on an issue as important as this to the people of Elmont, North Valley Stream, Franklin Square and South Floral Park communities is deeply troubling and a shot across the bow. The people deserve answers, information and peace of mind." See also News12.com article "Privatization of LI Bus raises fare hike concerns"
